Damien Jélaine (b. Guadeloupe, 1991) is a Guadeloupe/L.A. based filmmaker, screenwriter and photographer

IN 1991
I was born in Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe. At age seven, my mother introduced me to the American Cinema and by eight, I knew I wanted to make films.

IN 2009

I flew to Paris to start film school (as it was impossible in Guadeloupe back in the days (it’s way different now).

IN 2011

I came back home to write and direct my first feature lenght, titled Karukera Fever, about a domestic war that never came.

IN 2012

Paris – Graduated from Saint-Charles Écoles des Arts de la Sorbonne (Cinema) – Paris

University, Panthéon Sorbonne.

IN 2013

I flew back to Paris to direct my second length, Public Bitches, which won the Best Screenplay Award at the World Music and Independent Film Festival of Washington D.C. the following year.

IN 2018

I flew to Los Angeles to sell my last screenplay, then stayed a while, traveled across the land and then completely destroyed my vision towards the American mythology

IN 2019

Sundance – My american screenplay Audrey, The Woman They Love Twice (feature length,

2018) was selected at the Sundance Film Festival .

IN 2019/2020/2021

The HE(A)RD – In charge of the main visual identity of the L.A. based music label « The HE(A)RD ».
